Segregated Inmates: Wednesday & Saturday, 10AM to 11AM or by arrangement as necessary.

Visiting Regulations

All visitors will sign the inmate visiting card at the front counter. Please bring a photo ID with a current address when signing in for visits. Currently visits are only allowed for individuals 18 and above. If on Parole or Probation, must permission to visit. Contact visits with biological children under 10 are Sundays by arrangement. Biological children over 11 are non contact Sundays by arrangement.

  1. Visitors must submit to a search of belongings or a pat down search if there is suspicion you are trying to take contraband into the visiting area. If you refuse to be searched upon request, your visit will be denied.
  2. Visitors will not be allowed to carry personal items into the visiting area including but not limited to cell phones, purses, diaper bags, cameras, briefcases, tape recorders, food items including beverages, etc. The only items allowed to be brought into the visiting area shall be keys, ID, and a small wallet.
  3. During the visit, inmates/visitors shall not be allowed to write notes or use sign language in order to communicate. (Unless inmate or visitor is hearing impaired) Any violation of this rule shall result in the visit ending.

The following persons will not be allowed to visit prisoners in the jail:

  • An inmate released from the Modoc County Jail on bond or by any other means, whose case has not been adjudicated.
  • Staff will NOT allow visitors who are intoxicated, belligerent or disruptive to visit with inmates.
  • Visitors must be eighteen (18) years or older. Juveniles who are under the age of eighteen (18) years may visit inmates as long as a parent or guardian accompanies them. Proof of guardianship must be presented, and verified to the satisfaction of the intake staff, upon request, prior to a visit being allowed.
  • Any Prisoner who has been incarcerated in the Modoc County Jail in the last 90 Days.

No gifts or other items for inmates will be accepted at any time. Money may be accepted for inmates and will be placed on the inmate's account for use in the commissary. No personal checks will be accepted.

A Contact Visit is a visit which physical contact between the inmate and the visitor is permitted. The Modoc County Jail offers contact visits between inmates and their children 10 years and younger. In order to participate in contact visits an inmate must be sentenced to 30 days or longer as well as agree to continue free parenting classes after their release.

1.All visits will be non-contact visits, unless the inmate has been approved for contact visits.
2.Inmates may lose their visiting right if there is a violation of detention facility rules.
3.Visiting may be terminated at any time for security reasons.
Visitors are limited to a maximum of one visit per day regardless of the number of inmates they wish to visit. A maximum of two (2) persons are limited in the visiting booth at one time.

Attorney Visits
An attorney may visit an inmate if he or she has been named attorney of record by the court.
An attorney or any other visitor shall not accept or pass to an inmate any communication that is not specifically related to attorney/client relationship. All material to be passed between an inmate and an attorney such as books, legal pads, writing tools, etc., shall be viewed by the officer on duty and checked for contraband for security purposes.
All persons who use the Attorney Room for visiting inmates are subject to search of their person and property to maintain the security of the facility.

Clergymen Visits
Clergymen may visit an inmate for religious purposes during normal working hours and have use of the Attorneys' Visiting Room. Clergymen must sign the register and be able to present proper identification prior to the visit.

Clergymen shall not accept or pass to an inmate any communication that is not specifically related to religious material. All material to be passed between an inmate and the clergyman such as books, writing pads, writing tools etc., shall be viewed by the officer on duty and checked for contraband.
